After every iPhone launch, there is always a frantic resell spree in Hong Kong. People who managed to get their hands on the latest iphone quickly resell it off to 3rd party scalpers for a profit.
This year however, the market seems to be awefully cool… infact it could be described as cold. Profit margins that used to go in the thousands is now as low as a few dollars.
This drastic change might be attributed changes in Apple’s China strategy. The majority of buyers for iphones were mainland Chinese who didn’t have access to the iPhone locally. This year Apple did not launch the iPhone in Hong Kong prior to China.
