The LeEco (LeTV) Le 2 phone just got released to the public this week, and thanks to Chinese Netizen “Xiaolu” (same guy responsible for the LeTV 1 Root) , there is already a method to install Root and TWRP for this phone (X620).

***Root your phone at your OWN RISK***

***This root will erase ALL content on your phone. Please backup all your data***

Note: There are two version of the Recovery ROM,

  • Version EUI 5.8 
  • EUI before 5.8.
  • Please check which version you have as flashing the wrong version will result in failure.

Root Instructions:

  1. Enable Developer mode (Settings – About phone – Click “Build number” 5 times.)
  2. Enable USB debugging in developer mode.
  3. Enable “OEM unlocking”
  4. Check the version of you EUI. Record this down as it is important for deciding which recovery to flash.

Fastboot:

  1. Enter Fastboot mode, reboot the phone whilst pressing [Power On][Volume Down]
    Le2Fastboot
  2. Download the recovery https://mega.nz/#!Wg8xzIxa!4mDSt3i1AiKb-BYZe-RJaupbduEIfeNYHhYJzwzFlnM
  3. Extract the zip file (extract the version corresponding to your EUI ROM, eg EUI 5.8)
  4. Open command prompt (shift right-click in windows explorer, “open command window here”
  5. Enter “fastboot oem unlock”
  6. fastboot oem unlock
  7. Enter “fastboot flash recovery Letv-X620-Twrp-3.0.2-0.img”
  8. TWRP Le2
  9. Now you should have TWRP installed
  10. Hold down the Power Button and the Volume Up button to reboot into TWRP

Enter TWRP (TWRP 3.0 is multilingual)

  1. Transfer to file no-verity-opt-encrypt.zip to the phone
  2. Flash no-verity-opt-encrypt.zip. If you do not do this you will not be able to boot your phone!
  3. Flash the latest root module from SuperSU. (download here)

Unlocked Bootloader:

If your device has this message on boot
“Orange state
Your device has been unlocked and can’t be trusted
Your device will boot in 5 seconds”

This is entirely normal and is a side effect of an unlocked bootloader. You can remove it by reinstalling the original EUI ROM (removes root or custom roms). This message will show up on all custom roms or root devices.

  8. can you boot back into twrp? you can boot into twrp using the by holding down the vol up button during loading. you can then transfer the rom to the phone via USB

  9. Hi， I did everything step by step quite a few times already and I still can’t seem to access TWRP; it always goes to the default recovery where it asks me to update or clear data. I can’t figure it out what’s wrong. I know the installation is successful because it says “okay” twice, but every time I press and hold the power and up volume button, I’m taken to the default recovery screen.

  15. I everything do like described, I flash recovery successful but I stuck on leeco logo on boot. I tried to install stock rom 5.8. and I success but it steel can boot rom it steel stuck on logo when I try to boot my phone.

    I tried to root the phone (Le X620) after OEM unlock and flashing recovery image phone is not coming up.I am not able to see even screen . I tried the key combination to enter fastboot again , but no success.can you please help me with this issue?

Hi Wei, everything ok, Root Checker said: Congratulations in green message and SuperSU installed but some applications said me “no root access”, like ROM MANAGER: “You must root your phone for ROM Manager to function. Superuser was not found at ‘/system/bin/su” or ‘/system/xbin/su’ Use google Search on your computer to find instructions to root your phone. Please help me!!

  20. Hello i tryed this proceder and now is my phone bricked it don t start more! I have on the developer setting forgot to able oem unlock and now can not unlock the bootloader. The phone can not completely start bootloop. The one it can ist fastboot no more no recovery and no start . you have a idee how unlock bootloader ?

  21. When you say that the correct twrp is needed, in what way? I have stock rom eui 5.6 on my phone at the moment, I want to flash eui 5.8, what twrp do I need to flash?

  26. Tommyabey, From what I understand after flashing twrp you have to flash another file called no-verity-opt-encrypt than you flash super-su 2.72 than you have to install the new rom. I am not 100% that this is the right way but try and read some more forums about it.

    • have done all that already…. afta installijg twrp and rooting the phone it boot up and nothing like orange state.. it was working perfectly then. it was when I install the new rom that the phone got stuck at orange State…how can I flash a new rom on it… that’s what other forum is saying that i should flash in a new rom… but my sp flash tool can not read my scatter txt… any other way to flash in the new rom please……..

  34. Ok,i did it as described. Install twrp,than enter the recovery and flashed No verity opt encrypt ,than flashed super super su v2.46 and phene is stucked on EUI,Wont reboot completely! What should i do?

  39. Hi, guys! I think I have a problem with this recovery as it is in Chinese and I have no clue how to change the language. The phone is set to English! I managed to install the TWRP but it is shown in Chinese or other type of Mandarin language.
