Top 3 improvements in MIUI 7

MIUI 7 Rolling Out

Xiaomi recently released their latest MIUI 7 update global edition (for Xiaomi Note, Mi 4, Mi 3, RedMi 2/ Prime, Redmi 1S 3G, Redmi Note 4G and Mi Pad) with some major advantages. Whilst this upgrade contains various fixes along with some major improvements. Here is a list of the top 3 major improvements:

  1. 30% Faster System Response and application loading. Xiaomi found a way to fast track application loading the application data at the same time as the app animation plays. This makes perfect sense at Animations need is done on the GPU whilst data loading is done by the CPU. This means both components of the machine’s brain is being used at the same time.
  2. 10% more battery life (brought about by automatic alignment of CPU wakes) : This might not seem like a lot at first, but a lot of times smartphones run out of battery at the last hour of a long day out. Having 10% more battery life means the phone can finally last until the end! [Note: some user suffer from a battery drain issue that might negate this advantage)
  3. More Styles. Xiaomi brought a grand total of 5 free professionally designed themes with this upgrade.

Overall, most of the upgrades brought by MIUI 7 are under-the-hood. There aren’t really any major revolutionary features brought on by this update. Other features such as child mode is a neat addition for those who purchase Mi phones for kids – however this does not apply to every user of the phone.

There isn’t really a noteworthy feature to brag about in this upgrade – no real “one more thing” that Xiaomi could bring to the table. This could be due to the way Xiaomi updates the phones – by providing a development build every week, the are force to constantly push out new upgrades instead of accumulating it all and releasing it at once (eg. Apple iOS upgrades).
